Authorities can take concrete action when they are well-versed in the illicit trade of counterfeits, and STU believes continuous education and training are integral to this cause. With training documents approved by the Client, STU organizes two kinds of engagement sessions with authorities:
• Brand Protection Awareness: These are smaller, focused sessions given to both officers new to the subject matter of IP enforcement and to specific teams preparing for targeted raids. This background gives officers practical informational tools and an awareness of the brands we represent ahead of action being taken on the ground.
• Product Identification Awareness: These larger sessions are attended by interdisciplinary groups of officers and are a core part of our ongoing lobbying efforts. These sessions may involve different units and brands are invited to attend these events if they are available at that time.
In both sessions, officers will walk away with practical information about counterfeit clues (such as packaging), as well as pointers about what to photograph and how to take good photos that will be useful to obtain brands’ verification.
Following the training, STU encourages officers to contact us via open, direct communication channels if they have any questions or suspicions on cases they're working on, ensuring successful enforcement in the future.
